Ebenezer is a farm which is located approximately 65km from Bulawayo. For young farmers the farm has a very important role in daily life mainly because these farmers will be trained and eductated how to cultivate their land. In addition, it’s also a spot where local people will be educated according to Bible perspective.
Every year 75 persons will be selected, because there isn’t more space available. Unmarried man and women between the age of 18 and 23 will sign an agreement so they are committed for at least 2 years to the farm. A farmer will receive a plot (size depends on efforts, vision and capacity) of 0.5 to 1.5 hectare.
Those plots are all irrigated and there is a guarantee that the products which will be cultivated will be sold. Costs or purchase and a fee for Ebenezer will be deducted from the revenue. The remaning amount will be profit for the farmer.
The main aim is to let people co-operate and learn from eachother under supervision of people who are inspired by God, to help people with their whole heart and soul.
It could happen that someone will return to its home town with a total profit of 1000 USD.
The vision of Ebenezer is to change Zimbabwe from inside in order to (according to Isaiah 58) to fight against poverty by means of spiritual principles to the local people.
Ebenezer would like to be self-supporting and with the help of White Bird Foundation, Ebenezer is starting a pecannuts orchard. A lot of work has been done in the past 18 months, seeds are bought and has been planted to let the “root stock” grow. Several variaties are planted around the nursery for having sufficient small trees to create a major orchard.
Pecan trees are in the nursery fora n average of 3.5 years before they can be planted in the field. At the end of 2019, Evenezer hopes to be able to sell the first trees for cash. (giving Ebenezer another cash flow, in addition to cashew flow of vegetables that are grown, milk, eggs and chickes that are sold). The main aim for this project is to generate a stable income for the small farmers.
Would you like to assist with building this nursery? There are several opportunities to participate in this initiative.
